Now that Palworld has fully released, whether you're returning after a long time or playing for the first time, there's a lot to learn. Here's a breakdown of everything you need to know about Palworld as a beginner.

The three main things to do in Palworld are leveling up your character, capturing Pals, and expanding your base. The most important thing for leveling up fast is chasing capture bonuses — if you catch the same Pal again, you get XP for it. The quickest way to level up is to catch 12 of the same Pal, rather than spending that time mining, crafting, or doing other survival work.

Every time you level up, you get stat points to make your character stronger. Choosing the right stats early makes the rest of the game much easier.

• Weight: Prioritize this stat first so you can carry more wood, stone, and ore without slowing yourself down.
• Stamina: Important for running longer, climbing cliffs, and using tools without tiring out.
• Health (HP): Increasing your health is essential for surviving unpredictable boss fights.
• Stats to avoid: Don't waste points on Attack or Work Speed, since most of your fighting and crafting will be handled by your weapons, tools, and Pals.

Choosing the right location for your base matters, since it's where you'll keep all your collected resources, craft items, and Pals.

• Correct Location Look for a large, flat spot for your permanent base instead of building in the starting area. Make sure the location has multiple Ore and Stone nodes nearby, and avoid cliffs and tight choke points, since Pals can get stuck while moving around a cramped base.
• Early Automation Unlock and upgrade a Ranch as soon as possible, and assign a Vixy to work there. Vixies dig up useful items like Pal Spheres, Gold Coins, and Arrows automatically, so you don't have to manually craft those items — saving both resources and time.
• The Food Box Exploit Another useful trick is slowing down how fast your food spoils. Open your storage box or inventory and click the "Sort" button. This resets your food's spoilage timer, keeping it fresh for much longer so you don't have to keep collecting food over and over.

Combat in Palworld is manageable if you handle your character and Pals well. Here are the mechanics worth mastering to swing battles in your favor.

• The Daydream Necklace One of the best early-game upgrades. Once upgraded, it floats beside you and attacks enemies automatically, without taking up any of your Pal summon slots — effectively doubling your early-game damage output.
• The Recall Dodge High-level bosses often launch slow, massive projectiles. The best way to avoid taking damage from these is to recall your Pal back into its Pal Sphere by clicking the Recall button. This avoids the hit entirely, and you can summon your Pal back afterward.
• Mercy Mechanics It's easy to accidentally kill a rare Pal before capturing it. Craft a Mercy Ring, or use a Pal equipped with Mercy Hit, to prevent this. These mechanics leave the target at exactly 1 HP so you can capture it safely.

A functional base beats a tidy one. Your base needs to let Pals move efficiently between beds, storage, food, resource nodes, and workstations without getting stuck.

Keep your storage boxes close to crafting stations and mining areas to save your Pals' walking time. Place the food box somewhere everyone can access easily. Leave enough space between workbenches, farms, and other buildings so Pals can move around freely. If you notice Pals not finishing their jobs, the problem is usually the base layout, not the Pals themselves.

Think of your base as a factory as it grows — keeping it well organized and functional gets more work done and saves you a lot of time.

As your base level goes up, you'll produce more resources, assign more Pals to work, and find it easier to expand further. Since there's so much to explore early on, these missions also give you a clear sense of direction.

If you ever feel stuck, complete your base missions, level up your base, then head out with stronger Pals and better equipment.

The best way to make progress is to start exploring the world — unlock fast travel points and collect valuable items that will help you later. Here's what to keep in mind while exploring the wild:

• Nighttime Hunting The glowing green Lifmunk Effigies are much easier to spot in the dark, so bring a torch or a Fire-element Pal along when exploring at night. Collect them and offer them to the Statue of Power to permanently improve your Pal capture rate. Some powerful Dark-element Pals also only spawn at night.
• Headshot Staggers Aim for the head when targeting wild Pals with a bow or crossbow. Headshots deal extra damage and briefly stagger the target, interrupting heavy attacks and giving your Pal more time to attack safely.

The best way to succeed early on is to play smarter, not harder. Prioritize XP by catching 12 of each Pal, build your base on flat land, and use items like the Daydream Necklace and Mercy Ring as often as you can. Make your gameplay easier by letting your Pals handle most of the work, like farming and mining.
