World of Warcraft: Forever adds zones, quests, and dungeons to WoW while keeping the level cap at 60. This beginner guide covers the full route from level 1 to 60, including starting zones, the new Skyborne starting area, new dungeons, and late-game zones.
The global launch is planned for November 4, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. PST. Some new zones and dungeons may have different level ranges at launch, so check the official patch notes before relying on anything here as final.
This leveling guide follows the journey from level 1 to 60. You can reach the level cap through quests, exploration, and selected dungeon runs. Keep these rules in mind:
Goal: Learn your class, complete starter quests, and get your first gear.
Choose your starting zone based on your race:
Complete the main quests in your starting zone before leaving them. These quests teach you how to fight, give you experience, and provide useful early gear.
Skyborne players should finish the story around Valanaar and nearby villages. At around level 12, use the Skycutter to travel to mainland Azeroth at level 13.
Goal: Continue questing and complete your first new dungeon quests.
Alliance players can move into Westfall and then explore Redridge Mountains, Darkshore, or Loch Modan. Horde players can quest in The Barrens or Silverpine Forest. Two new dungeons are planned for this stage:
Pick up dungeon quests before entering, since their XP rewards are more useful than repeatedly killing dungeon enemies. These dungeons are an important part of the 1-60 route, but don't enter if your character is too weak to handle the enemies inside.
Goal: Complete higher-level quests and prepare for new dungeons.
Alliance players can explore Duskwood, Wetlands, and Ashenvale. Horde players can visit Hillsbrad Foothills, Ashenvale, Stonetalon Mountains, and Thousand Needles. Two new dungeons are planned:
A planned ship route between Stormwind Harbour and Auberdine may also make travel easier for Alliance players. The best leveling tips for this stage are simple: complete nearby quests together, avoid enemies far above your level, and sell items you no longer need.
Goal: Gain XP through busy quest areas and explore the new mid-level zone.
Stranglethorn Vale is a good choice for this part of the journey. You can also explore Arathi Highlands, Desolace, Badlands, and Dustwallow Marsh.
The Riverglades is a new zone planned for around levels 36 to 44, offering another place to quest instead of following only the old Classic route. A planned boat route will connect Tanaris to Powderfuse Port in The Riverglades. Two new dungeons are planned for this stage:
The best zones at this stage depend on your level and available quests. Choose areas where you can complete several quests in one trip instead of spending too much time traveling between them.
Goal: Gain enough XP and improve your gear before the final levels.
Explore Tanaris, Feralas, The Hinterlands, Searing Gorge, Un'Goro Crater, and Felwood. Focus on quests that match your level instead of trying to finish every zone completely.
Alcaz Prison (48-53) is a new dungeon planned off the coast of Dustwallow Marsh. If its level range stays the same at launch, it can provide useful quests before you move into higher-level areas.
Check your weapons and armor during this stage. Carry food and potions, and save your Rested XP for your next sessions.
Goal: Reach level 60 through high-level quests and useful dungeon runs.
Continue questing in Western Plaguelands, Eastern Plaguelands, Burning Steppes, and Winterspring. Choose quests that give good rewards and suit your character's level.
Mount Hyjal is a new zone planned around the story of the World Tree and the events after the Battle of Mount Hyjal. Its exact level range and quest requirements still need to be confirmed in the final launch notes. Two new late-game dungeons are planned:
For the final push, complete high-value quests, use your Rested XP, and run dungeons when your group can finish them without too much trouble. Once you reach level 60, start working on better gear and preparing for endgame content.
Reaching level 60 in WoW Forever gets much easier when you follow the right zones, complete quests, and choose dungeons wisely. Finish your starting zone, use Rested XP, and upgrade your gear as you level.
Explore new areas like The Riverglades and Mount Hyjal to experience more of what the game has to offer, and always check the latest launch notes for confirmed zone and dungeon level ranges.
